Breaking Good News!
Lord Resistance Peace

News of catastrophes and havoc get preferential treatment.  News of well-being and progress is not welcome; because it does not qualify as “Breaking News”!
News about fighting or famine in Africa is feverishly sought and disseminated, but news about a peace deal to stop a conflict which has raged since 1987 is barely reported!  When Sudan is positively involved, those who have a blind spot to anything good about Sudan delete any reference to it  in their media reports.

A peace agreement has been signed between Uganda’s Government and the Lord’s Resistance Army.  Sudan brokered the peace and hosted the negotiations in Juba, capital of Southern Sudan.  Dr. R. Machar, Vice-Chairman of Southern Sudan was personally involved in the delicate contacts.
This agreement shows what Sudan (when in peace within its borders) can do for neighbouring countries.  This is an example of the way Africans can solve their own problems.
The Acholi people who are split in two halves between Sudan and Uganda have suffered a great deal.  We celebrate peace with them.

Those who took part in the negotiations on behalf of the two parties to the conflict deserve a great deal of credit.  Sudan too deserves acknowledgement of its contribution to the Breaking of Good News, for a change!  That has not happened yet; hence this Press Release!
