Al-Bashir addresses meeting of Higher Council |
 President of the Republic Field Marshal Omer Al-Bashir addressed the meeting of the Higher Council for Follow up of Implementation of the Agricultural Development Programme at the Council of Ministers Secretariat General Sunday. The President pointed out that the council comprises all sectors that are concerned with the agricultural production. The President reviewed the components of the programme at the level of the states, pointing out that March 23 would be the national day for achievement of agricultural development.
President Al-Bashir explained that the programme aims at combating poverty and providing food to all people of Sudan, calling on the private sector to attract partnerships for investment. Meanwhile, Vice President and Chairman of the Higher Council Ali Osman Mohamed Taha called for mobilization and coordination of efforts by the state and all sectors operating in the agricultural field to realize the objectives of the programme. The Vice President reviewed the tasks of the higher council. The meeting was attended by ministers, walis (governors) of states, representatives of the private sector and unions of farmers and herdsmen.
