Message from President Al-Bashir to Al-Qaddafi

Vice - President of the Republic, Ali Osman Mohamed Taha, Sunday evening returned home after a short visit to Libya during which he conveyed a message from the President of the Republic, Field Marshal Omer Al-Bashir, to the Libyan leader, Muammar Al-Qaddafi, concerning the allegations of the Prosecutor of the International Criminal Court (ICC).

In a statement upon his return at Khartoum Airport, Taha said that his visit came in the context of the campaign launched by the higher committee for confronting the ICC allegations. He said that he met with the Libyan leader, Mummar Al-Qaddafi, and informed him on Sudan stance regarding the ICC move, describing this meeting as positive and tackled constructive views on the management of the ICC crisis. Taha said that the Libyan Leader affirmed his rejection to the ICC allegations and his stand in support of Sudan. He said that he reviewed with the Libyan leader means to achieve solution for Darfur issue. He indicated that the two parties agreed on the continuity of contacts between Sudan and Libya toward dealing the move of the ICC prosecutor against Sudan. Taha said that an agreement was reached on establishment of a mechanism to implement the visions expressed by the Libyan leader on contacts that will be done toward solution of Darfur issue. He added that Sudan will carry out a legal activity, besides the ongoing political and diplomatic contacts, in dealing with the issue of the ICC prosecutor's allegations.
