U.S. strongly condemns attack against AMIS base at Haskanita |
The United States has strongly condemned the brazen attack against the African Union Mission in Sudan’s base at Haskanita and all acts of violence in Sudan that claims lives of innocent people. A statement issued by the U.S. Embassy in Khartoum called for an immediate end to hostilities and the vigorous pursuit of a lasting political settlement under the leadership of the UN and AU.
The statement said “the Embassy of the United States is deeply alarmed by the brazen attack on September 30 against the African Union Mission in Sudan’s base at Haskanita that cost the lives of at least 10 peacekeepers and left many more injured.” The statement expressed sympathy to the families and colleagues of those killed and injured in this deplorable event.
