Vice President Ali Osman Mohamed Taha discussed at his office at the Secretariat General of the Council of Ministers Saturday with US envoy for peace in Sudan Andrew Natsios progress of the implementation of the Comprehensive Peace Agreement (CPA) and the positive steps being made by the two partners, the National Congress and the SPLM, to surpass the crisis,
besides the ongoing negotiations in Serte between the government and the armed movements in Darfur to reach a political settlement for Darfur problem. The Charge d'Affaires of the US Embassy in Khartoum, Alberto Fernandez, affirmed in a statement following the meeting US full support to the CPA, pointing out that US considers the agreement as a historic achievement in the area and that it follows up with great concern what is going between the two partners and works to remove any difficulties between them to implement all provisions of the agreement which heralds good future for the Sudanese people. He pointed out that Sudan's acceptance of the hybrid operation and its positive participation in the peace negotiations in Serte would motivate US to discuss possibility to surpass the current obstacles between the two countries and means of boosting and developing their relations in the near future.
